Vegan and Gluten-Free Michelada

A refreshing take on the traditional michelada, this drink combines chilled tomato juice with various seasonings and gluten-free beer.

Ingredients

  • Sriracha salt (0 )
  • ice cubes (0.5 cup)
  • chilled tomato juice (1 cup)
  • lime (1 medium)
  • vegan Worcestershire sauce (0.5 teaspoon)
  • smoked salt (0.25 teaspoon)
  • celery seed (0.125 teaspoon)
  • coarsely ground black pepper (0.125 teaspoon)
  • aromatic bitters (Angostura) (2 dashes)
  • hot pepper sauce (Tabasco) (1 dash)
  • habanero powder (1 )
  • gluten-free beer (1 cup)

Instructions

  1. Pour Sriracha salt onto a small, shallow plate. Moisten the rim of a chilled 1-pint mug and dip it into the Sriracha salt. Add ice cubes to the mug until one-fourth full.
  2. Place 2 ice cubes in a cocktail shaker. Add the tomato juice, lime juice, Worcestershire sauce, smoked salt, celery seed, black pepper, bitters, hot pepper sauce, and habanero powder. Cover and shake until the outside of the shaker has frosted.
  3. Pour the tomato juice mixture into the mug, topping it with beer. Stir gently to combine. Continue to add more beer to the mug as you drink the cocktail.
