Unleavened Cornbread
A simple and delicious cornbread recipe perfect for any occasion.
Ingredients
- cornmeal (1 cup)
- all-purpose flour (1 cup)
- white sugar (0.25 cup)
- salt (1 teaspoon)
- large egg (1 )
- shortening, melted (0.25 cup)
- milk (1 cup)
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 425 degrees F (220 degrees C). Grease a 12 cup muffin pan or line with muffin papers.
- Stir together cornmeal, flour, sugar, and salt in a large bowl. Make a well in the center and add egg, shortening, and milk. Stir until well blended. Spoon batter into the prepared muffin cups.
- Bake in the preheated oven until a toothpick inserted into the center of muffins comes out clean, 20 to 25 minutes.
