Ultimate Chili
A hearty chili made with lean ground beef, kidney beans, and various spices, perfect for slow cooking.
Ingredients
- lean ground beef (1 pound)
- salt and pepper (0 )
- dark red kidney beans (3 (15 ounce) cans)
- Mexican-style stewed tomatoes (3 (14.5 ounce) cans)
- celery (2 stalks)
- red bell pepper (1 )
- red wine vinegar (0.25 cup)
- chili powder (2 tablespoons)
- ground cumin (1 teaspoon)
- dried parsley (1 teaspoon)
- dried basil (1 teaspoon)
- Worcestershire sauce (1 dash)
- red wine (0.5 cup)
Instructions
- Cook and stir ground beef in a large skillet over medium-high heat until evenly browned, 5 to 7 minutes. Drain off grease, then season with salt and pepper.
- Transfer beef to a slow cooker. Add kidney beans, tomatoes, celery, bell pepper, and vinegar. Season with chili powder, cumin, parsley, basil, and Worcestershire sauce. Stir to distribute ingredients evenly.
- Cook on Low for 8 hours or High for 6 hours. Pour in wine during the last 2 hours.
