Texas-Style Baked Beans

A hearty and flavorful baked beans dish with bacon, onions, and a blend of sauces and spices.

Ingredients

  • butter (1 tablespoon)
  • vegetable oil (2 tablespoons)
  • red onion (1 medium)
  • garlic (2 cloves)
  • bacon (1 pound)
  • red bell pepper (1 medium)
  • jalapeno peppers (3 medium)
  • beer (1 cup)
  • barbecue sauce (1 cup)
  • brown sugar (1 cup)
  • molasses (0.25 cup)
  • cooked pinto beans (6 cups)
  • garlic salt (1 pinch)
  • black pepper (0 )

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 375 degrees F (190 degrees C). Grease a 9x13-inch baking dish with 1 tablespoon butter.
  2. Heat oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Sauté onion and garlic in hot oil until onion begins to soften, 5 to 7 minutes. Add bacon, bell pepper, and jalapeños; cook and stir until bacon is browned, 7 to 10 minutes.
  3. Stir beer, barbecue sauce, brown sugar, and molasses together in a large bowl. Stir in pinto beans, bacon-onion mixture, garlic salt, and pepper. Pour bean mixture into the prepared baking dish.
  4. Bake in the preheated oven until bubbling and browned, about 45 minutes.
