Tamales
A festive traditional dish perfect for gatherings and celebrations, especially around the holidays.
Ingredients
- masa harina (100 grams)
- lard (100 grams)
- water (200 ml)
- salt (5 grams)
- corn husks (10 pieces)
- cooked peppers (5 pieces)
- cheese (200 grams)
- ice cubes (3 pieces)
Instructions
- Soak corn husks in warm water for at least 30 minutes to an hour.
- In a bowl, mix masa harina, lard, water, and salt until combined and smooth.
- Add ice cubes to the masa to help keep it airy and fluffy.
- Spread the masa evenly on the soaked corn husks, leaving some space on the edges.
- Place a mixture of cheese and cooked peppers on the masa.
- Fold the corn husk over the masa and filling, securing it tightly.
- Arrange tamales upright in a steamer pot and steam for about 1 to 1.5 hours, or until the masa separates easily from the husk.
