Sweet and Spicy Turkey Rub

A flavorful rub for enhancing turkey, chicken, or pork with a mix of spices and sweetness.

Ingredients

  • brown sugar (3 tablespoons)
  • garlic powder (2 tablespoons)
  • red pepper flakes (2 tablespoons)
  • onion powder (2 tablespoons)
  • salt (1.5 tablespoons)
  • ground cumin (1 tablespoon)

Instructions

  1. Combine brown sugar, garlic powder, red pepper flakes, onion powder, salt, and cumin together in a bowl; stir until well mixed.
  2. When you are ready to use the rub, pull back the skin on the turkey breast, drumsticks, and anywhere else you can expose the meat. Sprinkle rub onto meat; pat down rub. Replace skin. Refrigerate 2 hours to overnight.
  3. Roast turkey at 325°F (165°C) for 4½ to 5½ hours. An instant-read thermometer inserted into the thickest part of the thigh, near the bone, should read 165°F (74°C).
