Slow Cooker Italian Sausage Soup

Ingredients
- Italian sausage (0.454 grams)
- onion (0.12 cups)
- chicken broth (1.42 liters)
- tomato sauce (0.45 liters)
- diced tomatoes (0.41 grams)
- green bell pepper (0.12 cups)
- Italian seasoning (2 teaspoons)
- garlic (3 cloves)
- crushed red pepper (0.5 teaspoon)
- ziti or penne pasta (226.8 grams)
- ricotta cheese (0.24 liters)
- Parmesan cheese (0.12 cups)
- fresh basil (0.12 cups)
Instructions
- Gather all ingredients.
- Cook sausage and onion in a large skillet over medium heat, breaking up clumps with a wooden spoon until browned; drain fat.
- Add sausage mixture to a 4- to 5-quart slow cooker. Add broth, tomato sauce, diced tomatoes, green pepper, Italian seasoning, garlic, and crushed red pepper.
- Cover and cook on Low for 6 to 8 hours or on High for 3 to 4 hours. If using Low, turn to High. Add pasta; cover and cook for 30 minutes.
- Stir together ricotta, Parmesan cheese, and basil in a small bowl.
- Top servings with ricotta mixture. Serve hot and enjoy!
