Puppy Chow Crispy Treats

This recipe combines peanut butter and chocolate muddy buddies with the marshmallow gooeyness of a rice crispy treat to create a delicious snack that's easy enough to make for any day and good enough to bring to a party.

Ingredients

  • dark chocolate chips (170 grams)
  • creamy peanut butter (180 grams)
  • unsalted butter (113 grams)
  • kosher salt (2 grams)
  • rice cereal squares (340 grams)
  • powdered sugar (8 grams)
  • miniature marshmallows (240 grams)
  • cooking spray (0 )
  • creamy peanut butter (30 grams)

Instructions

  1. Gather all ingredients.
  2. Place chocolate chips, 3/4 cup peanut butter, and 4 tablespoons butter in a large microwave-safe bowl. Microwave on HIGH until melted and smooth, stirring every 30 seconds, about 1 1/2 to 2 minutes; stir in salt.
  3. Place cereal into a very large bowl. Pour melted chocolate mixture over cereal; fold until cereal is evenly coated. Let rest for 15 minutes.
  4. Add 1 cup powdered sugar to coated cereal; fold until evenly coated (some sugar may dissolve). Spread into an even layer on a parchment-lined baking sheet.
  5. Place remaining 4 tablespoons butter and marshmallows in a large bowl. Microwave on HIGH until marshmallows have puffed and begin to turn into one mass, about 45 seconds. Stir well and add 2 tablespoons peanut butter. Microwave for 30 more seconds, and stir again until smooth. Pour marshmallow mixture over cereal mixture and fold until evenly coated.
  6. Spray a 13-x 9-inch baking pan with cooking spray. Spread cereal mixture into pan, pressing into an even layer; let sit at room temperature until set, about 1 hour.
  7. Sift remaining 1 tablespoon powdered sugar over cereal mixture, cut into 12 pieces (each piece 3-x-3.25 inches) and serve.
