My Grandma's Banana Bread

Ingredients

  • bananas (3 pieces)
  • all-purpose flour (1.5 cups)
  • baking soda (1 teaspoon)
  • salt (0.5 teaspoon)
  • unsalted butter (0.5 cups)
  • sugar (0.75 cups)
  • eggs (2 pieces)
  • vanilla extract (1 teaspoon)
  • walnuts (0.5 cups)

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a bowl, mix melted butter with sugar until well combined.
  3. Add the ripe bananas and mash thoroughly before mixing in the eggs and vanilla extract.
  4. In a separate bowl, combine flour, baking soda, and salt.
  5. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture and stir until just combined. Do not overmix.
  6. Fold in chopped walnuts if using.
  7. Pour the batter into a greased and floured loaf pan.
  8. Bake for 60-65 minutes or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
  9. Let the bread cool in the pan for 10 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack to cool completely.
