Mustard Mousse for Ham

A creamy and tangy mousse perfect as a side for ham, blending mustard flavor with the richness of whipped cream.

Ingredients

  • unflavored gelatin (1 envelope)
  • cold water (2 tablespoons)
  • white sugar (0.75 cup)
  • apple cider vinegar (0.67 cup)
  • water (0.33 cup)
  • mustard powder (0.25 cup)
  • salt (0.5 teaspoon)
  • eggs (4 )
  • whipping cream (1 cup)

Instructions

  1. Dissolve gelatin in 2 tablespoons cold water in a small bowl; transfer to a blender.
  2. Add sugar, vinegar, 1/3 cup water, mustard powder, and salt; blend until smooth. Add eggs; blend until smooth.
  3. Place a mixing bowl over a pot of boiling water; pour mustard mixture into bowl. Cook and stir until thick like a custard. Remove from heat; cool completely.
  4. Beat whipping cream in a separate bowl with an electric mixer until soft peaks form. Fold whipped cream into mustard mixture.
  5. Lightly grease a 1-quart ring mold; pour in mustard-cream mixture. Chill in refrigerator overnight. Serve with ham.
