Mushrooms in White Wine Sauce

A savory dish featuring sautéed mushrooms in a white wine sauce, perfect as a side or main course.

Ingredients

  • peanut or vegetable oil (0.25 cup)
  • chopped onion (0.33 cup)
  • garlic (1 clove)
  • sliced mushrooms (1 pound)
  • water (0.75 cup)
  • dry white wine (0.25 cup)
  • chicken bouillon (1 cube)
  • dried basil (0.25 teaspoon)

  • pepper (0 )
  • cornstarch (1 tablespoon)

Instructions

  1. Heat oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Add onion and garlic; cook and stir until tender, about 5 minutes. Stir in mushrooms, 1/2 cup water, wine, bouillon cube, basil, salt, and pepper; bring to a boil.
  2. Reduce the heat and simmer, uncovered and stirring occasionally, for 10 minutes. Mix remaining 1/4 cup water and cornstarch together in a small bowl; stir into mushroom mixture and cook until thickened, about 5 minutes.
