Meringue Cookies
Light and airy meringue cookies that are easy to make and deliciously sweet.
Ingredients
- egg whites (2 large)
- salt (0.125 teaspoon)
- cream of tartar (0.125 teaspoon)
- vanilla extract (1 teaspoon)
- white sugar (0.75 cup)
- semisweet chocolate chips (1 cup)
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 300 degrees F (150 degrees C). Line cookie sheets with parchment paper.
- Beat egg whites, salt, cream of tartar, and vanilla in a clean bowl until soft peaks form. Gradually add sugar while continuing to whip until stiff peaks form, about 5 minutes. Fold in chocolate chips if using.
- Drop by heaping teaspoonfuls, one inch apart onto the prepared cookie sheets. Bake in the preheated oven until just lightly browned, about 25 minutes. Cool on baking sheets.
