Italian Stuffed Toast (Toast Farcito)

A delicious sandwich filled with prosciutto, fontina cheese, and giardiniera, grilled until golden and melty.

Ingredients

  • prosciutto (2 slices)
  • fontina cheese (2 slices)
  • thin sandwich bread (4 slices)
  • giardiniera (0.25 cup)
  • hot pickled peppers (2 )

Instructions

  1. Heat a panini press according to the manufacturer's instructions.
  2. Place 1 slice prosciutto and 1 slice fontina cheese onto a slice of bread; repeat with remaining prosciutto, fontina cheese, and another slice of bread. Add 1/2 of the giardiniera on top of each cheese layer and top sandwiches with remaining bread slices, creating 2 sandwiches.
  3. Cook each panino in the press until the cheese has melted and the bread has toasted, about 3 to 5 minutes. Serve with hot pickled peppers on the side.
