How to Check the Temperature of a Turkey

Ingredients

    Instructions

    1. Remove the turkey from the oven and close the door to preserve heat.
    2. Insert the thermometer into the thickest part of the thigh meat, ensuring the thermometer is parallel to the turkey.
    3. Hold the thermometer in place until the numbers stop moving. If the temperature reads 165°F (75°C) or higher, the turkey is done. If not, put it back in the oven.
    4. If stuffed, check that the stuffing's internal temperature has reached a minimum of 165°F (75°C) as well.
    5. Let the turkey rest in the pan for 15 to 45 minutes before carving.
