How to Check the Temperature of a Turkey
Ingredients
Instructions
- Remove the turkey from the oven and close the door to preserve heat.
- Insert the thermometer into the thickest part of the thigh meat, ensuring the thermometer is parallel to the turkey.
- Hold the thermometer in place until the numbers stop moving. If the temperature reads 165°F (75°C) or higher, the turkey is done. If not, put it back in the oven.
- If stuffed, check that the stuffing's internal temperature has reached a minimum of 165°F (75°C) as well.
- Let the turkey rest in the pan for 15 to 45 minutes before carving.
