Homemade Shake 'N Bake

Create your own flavorful Shake 'N Bake coating at home using common pantry ingredients.

Ingredients

  • breadcrumbs (1 cup)
  • paprika (1 tablespoon)
  • garlic powder (1 tablespoon)
  • onion powder (1 tablespoon)
  • dried thyme (1 teaspoon)
  • dried oregano (1 teaspoon)
  • salt (1 teaspoon)
  • black pepper (0.5 teaspoon)
  • optional: protein of choice (chicken, pork, fish) (1 pound)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 400°F (204°C).
  2. In a bowl, mix together breadcrumbs, paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, thyme, oregano, salt, and pepper until well combined.
  3. Lightly moisten your protein of choice with water or a beaten egg.
  4. Place the protein in a plastic bag along with the coating mixture. Seal the bag and shake until each piece is evenly coated.
  5. Arrange the coated protein on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper or a wire rack.
  6. Bake boneless proteins for 20 minutes, or until cooked through. Bone-in proteins may take about 45 minutes.
