Homemade Pie Crust

A classic flaky homemade pie crust made with simple ingredients and expert techniques to ensure perfect flakiness and flavor.

Ingredients

  • all-purpose flour (250 grams)
  • unsalted butter (170 grams)
  • salt (1 teaspoon)
  • ice cold water (60 milliliters)

Instructions

  1. In a large bowl, combine the sifted flour, salt, and sugar (if using).
  2. Add the cold, cubed butter to the flour mixture, and using a pastry blender, mix until the butter pieces are about pea-sized.
  3. Sprinkle in the ice cold water, one tablespoon at a time, mixing gently after each addition until the dough just comes together.
  4. Divide the dough into two equal portions, flatten into discs, and wrap in plastic wrap.
  5. Chill in the fridge for at least 45 minutes before rolling out.
  6. Once chilled, roll out on a floured surface to fit your pie dish.
  7. Place the rolled out dough in the pie dish and trim the edges as necessary. Chill again for 15 minutes before baking.
