Homemade Pie Crust
Ingredients
- all-purpose flour (250 grams)
- unsalted butter (170 grams)
- salt (1 teaspoon)
- ice cold water (60 milliliters)
Instructions
- In a large bowl, combine the sifted flour, salt, and sugar (if using).
- Add the cold, cubed butter to the flour mixture, and using a pastry blender, mix until the butter pieces are about pea-sized.
- Sprinkle in the ice cold water, one tablespoon at a time, mixing gently after each addition until the dough just comes together.
- Divide the dough into two equal portions, flatten into discs, and wrap in plastic wrap.
- Chill in the fridge for at least 45 minutes before rolling out.
- Once chilled, roll out on a floured surface to fit your pie dish.
- Place the rolled out dough in the pie dish and trim the edges as necessary. Chill again for 15 minutes before baking.
