Faddy’s Port Wine Cocktail Meatballs
A family favorite appetizer featuring flavorful meatballs with a unique sauce of ketchup, port wine, sugar, and Worcestershire sauce.
Ingredients
- olive oil (1 tsp)
- stuffing mix (1 cup)
- whole milk (1 cup)
- ground beef (1021 grams)
- Kosher salt (0.5 tsp)
- black pepper (0.5 tsp)
- yellow onions (2 )
- ketchup (1 cup)
- port wine (1 cup)
- granulated sugar (0.5 cup)
- vinegar (0.25 cup)
- Worcestershire sauce (0.25 cup)
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 350˚F. Lightly oil a rimmed baking sheet.
- In a large bowl, combine the stuffing mix and milk and let sit for about 5 minutes, or until the stuffing absorbs the milk.
- Add the beef, salt, pepper, and onions. Use your hands to mix the stuffing and onions evenly into the meat.
- Roll the mixture into meatballs the size of ping-pong balls and set on the prepared baking sheet.
- Bake for about 30 minutes, or until browned and cooked through. Set aside to drain on paper towels while you make the sauce.
- In a medium pot, combine ketchup, port wine, sugar, vinegar, and Worcestershire sauce. Bring to a boil, then reduce heat to a simmer and cook for about 10 minutes.
- Pour the sauce over the meatballs, tossing to coat, or transfer everything to a large slow cooker and let simmer over low heat for 3 to 4 hours.
