English Muffin Breakfast Strata

A delicious and hearty breakfast strata made with English muffins, sausage, eggs, and cheese.

Ingredients

  • ground pork sausage (0.45 kg)
  • unsalted butter (0.25 cup)
  • English muffins (1 packet)
  • shredded sharp Cheddar cheese (0.28 kg)
  • shredded mozzarella cheese (0.23 kg)
  • eggs (8 large)
  • sour cream (1.5 cups)
  • chopped green chiles (0.11 kg)

Instructions

  1. Heat a large skillet over medium-high heat; add sausage. Cook and stir until crumbly, evenly browned, and no longer pink, about 10 minutes. Drain and discard any excess grease.
  2. Lightly grease a 9x13-inch baking dish.
  3. Spread butter on inside of each English muffin half; arrange in the prepared baking dish. Top with 1/2 each sausage, Cheddar cheese, and mozzarella cheese.
  4. Whisk eggs, sour cream, and green chiles together in a large bowl; pour evenly over sausage and cheese layer. Top with remaining 1/2 each sausage, Cheddar cheese, and mozzarella cheese. Cover strata and chill for 8 hours.
  5. Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C).
  6. Bake in the preheated oven until lightly browned and set in the middle, about 35 minutes. Let stand for 10 minutes before serving.
