Egg in a Hole

A quick and easy breakfast recipe featuring an egg cooked in a hole cut out of a slice of bread, perfect for a satisfying start to the day.

Ingredients

  • bacon grease (1.5 teaspoons)
  • bread (1 slice)
  • egg (1 )
  • salt and ground black pepper (0 )

Instructions

  1. Melt bacon grease in a nonstick pan over low heat.
  2. Cut a 2-inch hole in the center of the bread slice; place in the hot skillet and cook until lightly toasted, about 2 minutes. Flip the bread and crack the egg into the hole; season with salt and pepper. Continue to cook until the egg is cooked and mostly firm; flip again and cook 1 minute more. Serve immediately.
