Easy Red Beans and Rice
A hearty recipe made with red beans, rice, and sausage, perfect for a filling meal.
Ingredients
- water (2 cups)
- rice (1 cup)
- turkey kielbasa (1 16 ounce)
- onion (1 )
- green bell pepper (1 )
- garlic (1 clove)
- canned kidney beans (2 15 ounce cans)
- whole peeled tomatoes (1 16 ounce)
- dried oregano (0.5 teaspoon)
- pepper (0.5 teaspoon)
- salt (0 )
Instructions
- Gather the ingredients.
- Prepare the rice: Bring water to a boil in a saucepan. Add rice and stir. Reduce heat, cover, and simmer for 20 minutes.
- Meanwhile, cook sausage in a large skillet over low heat for 5 minutes.
- Stir in onion, green pepper, and garlic; saute until tender.
- Add in beans and tomatoes with juice. Season with oregano, pepper, and salt.
- Simmer uncovered for 20 minutes. Serve over rice.
