Easy Creamed Onions
A creamy and delicious side dish featuring pearl onions in a butter and milk sauce.
Ingredients
- water (0.75 cup)
- salt (0 )
- peeled pearl onions (2 cups)
- butter (0.25 cup)
- cold whole milk (1.5 cups)
- quick-mixing flour (0.25 cup)
Instructions
- Bring water and salt to a boil in a small saucepan; add pearl onions and cook until just tender, 5 to 10 minutes. Drain, reserving 1/2 cup water in the saucepan; return onions to the pan and add butter.
- Mix milk and quick-mixing flour together in a bowl; add to onion mixture. Cook and stir over medium-low heat until thickened, 10 to 15 minutes. Stir in more quick-mixing flour if the mixture is too thin.
