Curried Brown Rice
A fragrant and flavorful dish of brown basmati rice spiced with curry, garlic, and cumin.
Ingredients
- grapeseed oil (1 tablespoon)
- chopped yellow onion (0.5 cup)
- garlic (2 cloves)
- brown basmati rice (1 cup)
- curry powder (1 teaspoon)
- garam masala (1 teaspoon)
- cumin seeds (1 teaspoon)
- vegetable broth (2 cups)
- kosher salt (0.5 teaspoon)
Instructions
- Heat grapeseed oil in a skillet over medium heat. Add onion and garlic; cook and stir until tender, about 5 minutes. Stir in rice, curry powder, garam masala, and cumin seeds. Cook and stir until rice is toasted, 1 to 2 minutes.
- Add broth to rice mixture; season with salt and bring to a boil. Reduce heat to low, cover, and cook until rice is tender and liquid is absorbed, 45 to 50 minutes.
