Classic Thanksgiving Turkey
A traditional turkey recipe perfect for Thanksgiving dinner.
Ingredients
- Turkey (1 whole)
- Salt (1.5 tsp)
- Black pepper (1 tsp)
- Butter (0.5 cup)
- Onion (1 large)
- Celery (2 stalks)
- Carrot (1 )
- Garlic (4 cloves)
- Thyme (1 tsp)
- Rosemary (1 tsp)
- Sage (1 tsp)
- Chicken broth (2 cups)
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 325°F (165°C).
- Remove the turkey giblets and pat the turkey dry with paper towels.
- Season the turkey inside and out with salt and black pepper.
- In a pan, melt the butter and sauté chopped onion, celery, and carrot until soft.
- Add minced garlic and dried herbs; cook for 1-2 minutes more.
- Remove pan from heat, and mix in chicken broth; let cool slightly.
- Stuff the turkey cavity with the stuffing mixture and tie the legs together.
- Place turkey in a roasting pan and cover with foil.
- Roast for 2-3 hours until internal temperature reaches 165°F (75°C).
- Remove the foil for the last 30 minutes to brown the skin.
- Let the turkey rest for 20 minutes before carving.
