Bananas Foster
A traditional New Orleans dessert made from ripe bananas, rum, butter, brown sugar, and vanilla extract, often served flambéed with ice cream.
Ingredients
- ripe bananas (2 units)
- butter (2 tablespoons)
- brown sugar (1 cup)
- vanilla extract (1 teaspoon)
- cinnamon (0.5 teaspoon)
- rum (0.25 cup)
- ice cream (4 scoops)
- honey (2 tablespoons)
- cinnamon sugar mix (1 tablespoon)
- corn flakes (2 cups)
Instructions
- In a skillet, melt the butter over medium heat.
- Add the brown sugar and stir until it is dissolved.
- Stir in the vanilla extract and cinnamon to the mixture.
- Add the bananas and rum and cook until heated through.
- Serve immediately over scoops of vanilla ice cream, drizzling with honey and sprinkling with cinnamon sugar and crushed corn flakes.
