Bananas Foster

A traditional New Orleans dessert made from ripe bananas, rum, butter, brown sugar, and vanilla extract, often served flambéed with ice cream.

Ingredients

  • ripe bananas (2 units)
  • butter (2 tablespoons)
  • brown sugar (1 cup)
  • vanilla extract (1 teaspoon)
  • cinnamon (0.5 teaspoon)
  • rum (0.25 cup)
  • ice cream (4 scoops)
  • honey (2 tablespoons)
  • cinnamon sugar mix (1 tablespoon)
  • corn flakes (2 cups)

Instructions

  1. In a skillet, melt the butter over medium heat.
  2. Add the brown sugar and stir until it is dissolved.
  3. Stir in the vanilla extract and cinnamon to the mixture.
  4. Add the bananas and rum and cook until heated through.
  5. Serve immediately over scoops of vanilla ice cream, drizzling with honey and sprinkling with cinnamon sugar and crushed corn flakes.
