Apple Pie by Grandma Ople

A classic apple pie recipe that's easy to enhance with a butter-sugar mixture for a delicious twist.

Ingredients

  • unsalted butter (0.5 cup)
  • all-purpose flour (3 tablespoon)
  • white sugar (0.5 cup)
  • brown sugar (0.5 cup)
  • water (0.25 cup)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 425°F.
  2. Melt the butter in a saucepan over medium heat, then add the flour to form a paste. Cook until fragrant, about 1-2 minutes.
  3. Add the white sugar, brown sugar, and water to the saucepan and bring to a boil.
  4. Reduce heat to low and simmer for 3-5 minutes, then remove from heat.
  5. Assemble your pie and lattice crust, trimming any excess dough and pinching edges to secure them.
  6. Pour the butter-sugar mixture over the pie, ensuring it seeps into the lattice.
  7. Brush the mixture over the crust, careful not to let it drip off the sides.
  8. Bake at 425°F for 15 minutes, then reduce to 350°F and bake until apples are soft and crust is golden brown.
