Apple Pie by Grandma Ople
A classic apple pie recipe that's easy to enhance with a butter-sugar mixture for a delicious twist.
Ingredients
- unsalted butter (0.5 cup)
- all-purpose flour (3 tablespoon)
- white sugar (0.5 cup)
- brown sugar (0.5 cup)
- water (0.25 cup)
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 425°F.
- Melt the butter in a saucepan over medium heat, then add the flour to form a paste. Cook until fragrant, about 1-2 minutes.
- Add the white sugar, brown sugar, and water to the saucepan and bring to a boil.
- Reduce heat to low and simmer for 3-5 minutes, then remove from heat.
- Assemble your pie and lattice crust, trimming any excess dough and pinching edges to secure them.
- Pour the butter-sugar mixture over the pie, ensuring it seeps into the lattice.
- Brush the mixture over the crust, careful not to let it drip off the sides.
- Bake at 425°F for 15 minutes, then reduce to 350°F and bake until apples are soft and crust is golden brown.
